Blue iguanas are an endangered reptile native to Grand Cayman. They are more commonly found in the drier scrub areas on the Eastern side of the island. There are refuge areas set aside for the animals as it faces lost habitat, displacement by non-native green iguanas, and predation from feral animals and pets (dogs, cats, and pigs). Many of the reptiles are tagged for identification, tracking, and biometrics.
